Abel Tasman is New Zealand's smallest National Park, but one of the most popular. The area is great for walking, fishing, swimming, sailing and sea-kayaking. The park can be accessed on foot from Marahau, a short 15 minute drive away, or by water taxi from Kaiteriteri or Marahau.
Also a 15 minute drive away 'Motueka' is the main town in the Abel Tasman Region, at the top of New Zealand's South Island, and 45 minutes from Nelson. Here you will find supermarkets, bakers, chemists, banks, bars & cafe's. The Sunday market in Motueka with its varied displays of local handicrafts, food stalls and fresh produce is always very popular.
